“Most California Community College students don’t even realize there’s a profession called communications that brings together critical thinking, writing, and creativity,” said Lou Hoffman, CEO of The Hoffman Agency. “That’s what we’re after, tapping this incredible and diverse talent pool in the CCC system.”
The scholarship will cover tuition and fees for two years at an HBCU, enabling the recipient to focus fully on their academic and professional growth. The most recent recipient, a graduate of American River College in Sacramento, is currently attending Grambling State University in Louisiana, pursuing a communications degree.
“This program creates pathways for students of all backgrounds to excel in the communications industry,” said Dr. Helen Young, Assistant Project Director at the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, who worked closely with Hoffman to design the scholarship. “The Hoffman Agency’s scholarship reflects our shared belief in the power of education to create change, not just in the lives of the recipient, but across the communications industry.”
